Architectural element representing an anthropomorphic character on a jar, this patong is characterised by the body’s linear and geometrical rendition.

The work is carved from a flat irregular block of wood, in the style common to other architectural elements of the region. Concerning local iconography, the same treatment of the curved arms, of the large hands joining on the thorax and of some features of the face can be found in a sculpture published in The Divine Gifts (figure 87).

This carving, probably representing a divinity that appears to be emerging from a jar, is a beautiful example of essentiality and of the geometrical treatment; its very simplicity emanating a strong energy.
